Restoring the Kagaa Village Health Centre

A generational restoration of the only health facility serving thousands of families across Kagaa Village and its surrounding communities.
For years, mothers walked hours to give birth safely, and preventable illness was met with closed doors. The centre had the walls but not the water, wiring, or staff quarters to function.
Through your donations, we have completed part of Phase 1 before the rainy season arrives. Patients were waiting in an outdoor waiting area with holes in the roof, while other parts of the clinic had molded or falling roofing. With the help of Barette Construction Co Ltd, we repaired the roof and repainted the supporting structure — giving patients a safer, drier place to receive care. Water, solar power, and the maternity wing remain underway with local contractors and community volunteers.
The community came together in the town square just outside the clinic to celebrate that work is finally being done on a facility that had not been restored in over fifty years. They sang hymns and shared stories - of how much having the clinic has meant to them, and of the hardship its deterioration has caused their families.

Full operations will restore maternal, pediatric, and preventative care to more than 12,000 residents - with a trained community health corps woven around it.
